Patek Philippe Beta 21 18K Gold Case ref 3603
Elipse but squared !
This is a very cool and funky looking vintage Patek from the 1970s with a Golden Ellipse looking dial but a more square case. The watch houses a Beta 21 movement. In the early 60s, a number of prominent brands, including Rolex and Patek Philippe, collaborated on the development of what became known the Beta 21 movement at the Centre Electronique Horologer (CEH). By the end of the 1960s approximately 6000 Beta 21 movements had been made, each virtually identical (except a few minor modifications on a brand by brand basis) and they were put into production
These Beta 21 movement Pateks are quite rare ; around 500 were produced in different references and metals..
This example is housed in a yellow gold stepped case that has square corners that frame an oval Ellipse-esque dial opening. The blue dial is in fantastic condition with crisp white text and sigma markings at the bottom edge, signifying that the hour markers are made out of solid gold. This cool Patek is fitted with the pictured leather strap with yellow gold Patek buckle and has been fully checked by our watchmaker and a new battery fitted.
A Litle fun - fact : at the time of launch these the retail price was 3000 US dollar , while a Patek 2499 was around 2700 US Dollar !
This is a great looking and unusual watch - one feels “ important” somehow if one wears this one -and we would be delighted to discuss it with you more. Please get in touch!
