Rolex Date Tropical Gilt dial with box and original chronometer papers ref 1501
We love to find you you guys some extra special watches ,and this is just that !
This 34mm reference 1501 features a cool engine-turned bezel and is home to an incredible gilt dial that has beautifully aged into a honey-brown colorâjust look at it!
Weâve encountered several of these gilt dials that display a darker shade on the left side and a lighter shade on the right. Interestingly, we've seen this effect on references 1016, as well as on 34mm Oyster Perpetuals and Date models. We could imagine this phenomenon might be due to the watch being worn on the left wrist, where itâs often covered by a sleeve and thus receives âless daylightâ on the right side of the dial.
These variations are fascinating, and the effect is always incredibly cool!
The gilt text remains sharp, with a golden hue, complemented by lovely stick markers and a yellowish patina on the plots and hands. This piece is fitted with a riveted Oyster bracelet, reference 7205, with end links marked 57, and a clasp stamped 4-63. The clasp also bears a charming engraving: âMDHââwe presume itâs the original ownerâs initials.
Additionally, the original Rolex box is included, along with an old hangtag and a set of chronometer papers, one of which indicates a sale in 1966. The watch has been fully serviced by our watchmaker.
Weâd love to discuss this marvel with you furtherâletâs talk!
